1. Overview
Microbial displacement is one of the means to improve the recovery rate of heavy oil reservoir, through the rapid reproduction of microorganisms on the rock surface, occupy the rock pore volume of oil displacement, and in the process of survival of heavy oil viscosity reduction, improve the recovery rate.

The physical simulation system of microbial flooding consists of four subsystems: displacement system, oil-gas-water automatic metering system, automatic control system and automatic data acquisition system.
Using this system, the following aspects can be studied on different physical models:
1. Study on the transport and adsorption of microorganisms and their nutrients in porous media.
2. Study on the growth, reproduction and decay of microorganisms in porous media.
3. Study on the change of metabolites in the process of microbial flooding and the change of crude oil components before and after microbial flooding.
4. In the process of crude oil displacement, the consumption of nutrients and the adsorption of specific nutrients in porous media by microorganisms.
5. The change of oil and water permeability in the process of microbial flooding.
6. Physical simulation of air-assisted microbial flooding.
7. Physical simulation of microbial enhanced recovery after polymer flooding.
8. Study on the feasibility of microbial flooding to improve recovery rate and the mechanism of improving recovery rate
9. Effect of microbial injection parameters on enhanced oil recovery and optimization of injection scheme.
